21 bridges on the 34,500 billion VND highway were waterlogged
Many bridges on the Da Nang – Quang Ngai highway are waterlogged.
On October 28, Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) said that through reviewing the JICA loan section from Km0 to Km65, the unit discovered 21 bridges with water seepage from the strip.
The section Km65 to Km139 still has stagnant water on the road surface;
Also on this section of the route, the bridge bed and underground tunnel have not been cleaned or excess construction materials removed from the construction site;
OP10 bridge abutment at Km41+235 rainwater flows down in many places.
According to VEC, the cause of water seepage and stagnation at some bridges is because the construction of the bridge deck drainage system has not been completed to ensure technical requirements according to the design.
A water collection pipe connection on Tam Ky bridge – located at Km68+418 across the river of the same name – was deflected during construction, causing water to flow out.
In civil underground tunnels, inspection showed that there was mainly water seepage at the joints of expansion joints into sewers.
VEC said it is strongly requesting contractors to urgently mobilize resources to focus on completing the remaining items;
The Corporation refuses to pay contractors until the remaining items are completed and meet the project’s technical standards.
Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway has a total capital of more than 34,500 billion VND.
After heavy rain in early October, the road surface from Km0 to Km65 appeared in many places with peeling and potholes.
