Talking to VnExpress on the morning of May 6, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, Director of Duc Giang General Hospital, said that from yesterday afternoon the hospital was assigned by the Department of Health to receive a maximum of 150 patients and test from 1,500 to 1,500 patients.

`100 more beds will be prepared and available within the next 12 hours,` Mr. Thuong affirmed.

According to Mr. Thuong, the Covid-19 situation in the world and neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand is very complicated.

Currently, Duc Giang General Hospital receives more than 1,000 patients every day, of which about 10-15% of patients are screened for Covid-19 due to symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty breathing or suspected epidemiology.

Before entering Duc Giang Hospital to take nCoV test samples, everyone was sprayed with disinfectant, washed their hands, and wore masks to ensure safety.

Doctor Dao Thien Tien, Director of Ha Dong General Hospital, also said this morning that the hospital is ready to receive and treat Covid-19 patients.

To date, Ha Dong hospital has not treated any Covid-19 patients, but has only received two suspected cases and then transferred them to the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital for screening.

The screening clinic for patients suspected of Covid-19 is located right at the hospital gate.

On the evening of May 5, the Hanoi Department of Health requested leading hospitals under the city, first of all Thang Long, Duc Giang, Thanh Nhan, Ha Dong and Dong Da hospitals, to be ready to receive treatment of patients.

On May 5, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh directed the Department of Health, Me Linh district and related units to urgently equip fully equipped facilities, ensuring readiness for 300 people to quarantine.

Mr. Hoang Duc Hanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, asked community Covid groups to `go to each alley and knock on each house` to propagate, detect people who have been to places with epidemics, quarantine, and take samples for testing.

The Hanoi Department of Health also requires private pharmacies, when someone buying medicine shows signs of fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, to immediately report to the local Health Station for instructions on timely treatment.

By the morning of May 6, Hanoi had recorded 27 positive cases of nCoV, related to a cluster of infections from Ha Nam, the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital, and a group of Chinese experts in Vinh Phuc.

The Central Tropical Diseases Hospital is the front line for treating Covid-19 patients, participating in the war since the beginning of the epidemic in 2020 until now.

On May 4, after a doctor on business trip abroad tested positive, the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital conducted screening tests and recorded 22 cases of infection in the past two days, including one doctor and one nurse.

The Central Tropical Diseases Hospital is under medical quarantine from May 5 to May 19, stopping accepting patients except Covid-19 patients.
