Brigid on a familiar running track in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, October 31, 2018.
At the time of the IMTUF race, Brigid was 31 weeks pregnant. The amateur athlete, who lives in Fort Huachuca, state of Arizona, felt a lot of pain.
Three years ago, when she was pregnant with her first child – Mila, Brigid did not jog.
But as soon as her postpartum period ended, Brigid returned to her running and training routine in preparation for the Dead Horse Ultra 50K.
Running helps Brigid feel more comfortable and overcome psychological barriers from being pregnant, being a wife, and being a mother in the family.
While pregnant with her second child, Brigid was allowed to run.
Due to her increasing weight gain, Brigid was forced to self-regulate.
During the last 16 km with her husband at the IMTUF, the couple ran and talked about how her hobby of running helped her feel about herself as their lives were about to change again.
Husband Jeff and daughter Mila always accompany Brigid during running sessions.
On November 19, 2018, Beck Pickett was born, just three days after Brigid ran the last kilometers of her pregnancy.
