It was a normal Friday night like any other weekend evening, Kate Fitzsimons was lying in bed looking at the photos her sister Nicole had just posted on Facebook.

But just a few hours later, her world was turned upside down when she received a call in the middle of the night from her mother.

Nicole and her friend were on their way back to the hotel after going to dinner together when they had an accident.

The hotel they rented was only a kilometer away from where they had dinner.

Nicole’s boyfriend only suffered minor injuries, but the young girl was not so lucky.

`I remember that time my mother called and said: Your sister is dead. My family’s world will never be the same again, from that moment on.`

Five years after Nicole’s death, Kate still thinks of her every day.

One minute of subjectivity cost a female tourist her life

Even though she was heartbroken, Kate still wanted to publicize the video of her sister’s accident to remind everyone to be more careful when driving on the road, especially when traveling.

Kate regularly organizes sessions to share experiences and safety methods when traveling abroad with more than 50,000 participants.

In the process of searching for information about the number of Australian tourists who died while traveling to Thailand, Kate said she was `very shocked when she received the results`.

Accordingly, 1/3 of Australian tourists who died abroad in 2017 were in Southeast Asian countries, with 523 people.
