Since the roads became more convenient, Hallstatt has become one of the most crowded places in the country, attracting visitors from all over the world.

Copying landmarks is no longer a new idea: Las Vegas clones countless Eiffel Towers and the Sphinx, and China has long been famous for owning copies of world wonders.

Hallstatt village, recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site, is considered one of Austria’s most charming places, a poetic town located at the foot of the Alps, surrounded by a mirror-like lake.

Because the village has only 900 residents, it is difficult for outsiders to own a house here.

The Chinese version of Hallstatt started construction in 2012, in Boluo district, Guangdong province, with a church, bell tower, market square, and landscapes identical to the original.

`I brought my children here to see the sights. I never thought about buying a house here, because Boluo is quite far from here,` said a tourist surnamed Zeng.

`The moment I arrived here, I felt like I was in Europe. The security guards wore beautiful uniforms. Every house was built in Europe,` said Zhu Bin, a tourist from Hue city.

Every day this place still welcomes thousands of tourists to visit.

Pamela Binder, a representative of Hallstatt’s tourism agency, said the village kept the peace with its Chinese counterpart.

Hallstatt Village in China has also become a popular wedding photography location.

Previously, Hallstatt welcomed fewer than 50 Chinese visitors in 2005, but in recent years thousands of people have come to this village, according to officials of an Austrian representative agency in China.

But not all residents of Hallstatt agree with the idea of replicating the village.
