On the afternoon of September 10, the Government Office announced the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam in agreement with the pilot plan to welcome international visitors to Phu Quoc and Kien Giang of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The People’s Committee of Kien Giang province is required to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to collect opinions from the people of Phu Quoc city through organizations, social unions and related businesses to promulgate a specific plan.
In addition to prioritizing vaccine allocation to Phu Quoc, the Ministry of Health presides over and coordinates with ministries and branches to provide specific instructions on the issuance of vaccination certificates.

The plan to welcome international visitors to Phu Quoc is expected to be implemented from October, lasting for 6 months, the time can be adjusted depending on reality.
International visitors to Phu Quoc must have a certificate of full dose of Covid-19 vaccine or a certificate of recovery from Covid-19 recognized by Vietnamese competent authorities.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant parties will decide to select eligible businesses to participate in the pilot.
In particular, the international travel business unit must have an operating period of over 3 years, with a minimum number of 30,000 guests/year.
If the pilot plan comes true, Phu Quoc will be the first locality nationwide to welcome international visitors again since April 2020 when international flights had to stop because of Covid-19.
