Accordingly, from next year, the tuition ceiling for public universities that have not yet covered their own recurrent expenses (not yet autonomous) is 1.41-2.76 million VND a month, depending on each sector.
Schools that have guaranteed their own regular expenses are allowed to collect a maximum rate equal to twice the above rate (2.8-5.5 million VND).
With training programs that meet quality accreditation according to standards of the Ministry of Education and Training or according to foreign standards, universities can determine their own tuition fees but must disclose it to learners and society.
Tuition increases have been implemented by many schools after the 2022 enrollment season. However, by the end of the year, the government asked schools not to increase them, to support students after Covid and inflation.
Depending on the university model and training program, tuition fees will vary.
For example, with the mass medical program, public medical and pharmacy schools that are not yet autonomous in their regular expenditures will be able to collect a maximum of 2.76 million VND a month from next year.
With an advanced, high-quality, tested program, the fee can be even higher.
Similarly, in the engineering sector, with the same standard program Information Technology sector group, the University of Technology, Hanoi National University collects the same as the old ceiling of 1.17 million VND a month but at the University
Most economic schools have self-sufficient regular expenses, so tuition fees are high, some fields exceed the ceiling due to being accredited or affiliated with foreign countries.
Overall, compared to the 2022-2023 tuition ceiling, the new rate increases by 43-93%.
