Director Martin Scorsese’s work is 209 minutes, longer than most Hollywood popular films in the past 20 years.

Based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt, The Irishman tells the story of real character Frank Sheeran (played by Robert De Niro) and his time as a gangster.

Conceiving the film idea since 2007, for more than a decade, Scorsese was unable to find funding for the project.

In an interview with The Playlist, director Martin Scorsese, 77 years old, pointed out the difference between The Irishman and the gangster films he has made: `The characters are older and the film’s content is more about looking back at the past.

At Oscar 2020, The Irishman received ten nominations, including best film, director, supporting actor (Pacino and Pesci), adapted screenplay, production design, cinematography, costumes, editing and special effects.
